Wellons’ Contribution to First Nations’ Sustainable Energy Initiative
We are proud to announce Société en Commandite Onimiskiw Opitciwan (SCOO) has selected Wellons as a supplier for the construction of their new biomass cogeneration plant. Wellons will provide and install two 12-megawatt thermal oil heaters in the fall of 2025, with a projected commission in 2026. These thermal oil systems will power a Turboden ORC to provide electricity to the Atikamekw First Nations Community of Opitciwan in the Mauricie region of Quebec. The intent of this project is to displace the existing diesel-fired Gensets currently supplying electricity to the village.
“These boilers will effectively meet the energy needs of our community, while promoting green and innovative practices,” said Denis Clary, Chair of the Board of Directors of the SCOO. “We are delighted to collaborate with Wellons Canada, a leader recognized for its technical expertise and commitment to innovation.”
